A Tribute To Marvin Gauss

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that from time to time that the government of White Oak Township pay tribute to one of its members for their outstanding service to this wonderful community;

WHEREAS, Marvin Gauss came from pioneer stock, he is a second generation to be involved in local government, his father Charles Gauss served 19 years as treasurer and 7 years as trustee, and

WHEREAS, Marvin Gauss has served his community faithfully in our local government as Zoning Board Member, then he was appointed as trustee on July 19, 1973 to fulfill John E. Osborne term through 1976, who due to bad health moved to Stockbridge Township; and

WHEREAS, Marvin ran for re-election in 1976 as trustee and won and served another four years; and

WHEREAS, when Delmar Carr decided to retire as Supervisor after serving for 20 years, Clark Nottingham ran for one-two year term and then Marvin ran for White Oak Township Supervisor in 1980 and won and has served 20 years as Supervisor/Assessor; and

WHEREAS, Marvin’s love for White Oak Township and it’s people has not been just words to him but he has showed that love by being an active part of the community and all his contributions will be remembered by all of us who worked with him; and

WHEREAS, Marvin was very instrumental in the township purchasing 23 acres adjacent to the Township Hall for a park during his time on the board, and the Township did it without an extra assessment, and the park developed rapidly including two ball diamonds and two pavilions and is used year around by our citizens, and

WHEREAS, Marvin was very also very instrumental in drafting our present zoning ordinance; and

WHEREAS, Marvin has decided to retire as of November 20, 2000 to give him more time to go up to his Northern home to fish and snowmobile, and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the White Oak Township Board on behalf of the citizens of White Oak Township, expresses their thanks for all his fine work and wishes him success and happiness in all his future endeavors, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this citation be presented to Marvin Gauss with love in the name of the residents and township board members of White Oak Township.

 

This resolution was adopted and signed by all the board members and presented to Marvin Gauss.
